iTalkBB Media partnered with Toyota to launch The Key of Memory, an original vertical micro drama designed to explore a new narrative-driven approach to automotive branding.

Background

As digital consumption habits continue to evolve, audiences are increasingly drawn to short-form, vertical video content that is emotional, cinematic, and mobile-first. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, vertical micro dramas have emerged as a major cultural phenomenon, originating in China and quickly expanding to global platforms such as TikTok. These concise, narrative-driven stories have reshaped how users engage with content, favoring immersive storytelling over traditional advertising formats.

Objective

Recognizing this shift, Toyota sought to explore innovative ways to connect its brand vision with contemporary digital culture. The goal was to introduce its all-electric bZ model through a fresh storytelling approach that prioritizes emotional resonance, cultural relevance, and organic brand integration.

By leveraging deep cultural insight and audience behavior expertise, iTalkBB Media transformed a global content trend into a North America–focused brand storytelling experience.

Creative Concept

The Key of Memory is an original vertical micro drama that tells the story of two lovers bound by a hidden secret. As they face uncertainty and emotional distance, the Toyota bZ becomes a silent witness and companion throughout their journey. The vehicle symbolizes connection, movement, and emotional continuity—bridging memory, technology, and human relationships.

This character-driven approach elevated the brand message, presenting the all-electric bZ with cinematic subtlety and emotional depth. Vehicle design, technology, and electric performance are revealed naturally through storytelling—allowing the brand to be felt rather than advertised.

Asian families have shifted their focus beyond basic necessities. They now seek to enrich family life with quality time and love. This entails enjoying shared moments such as watching TV together, embarking on travels as a unit, and investing in vehicles like the Grand Highlander, which serve as conduits for experiencing life's joys. The campaign strives to seamlessly integrate these cherished moments into the new model's presentation, showcasing how the target audience can envision their ideal lifestyle with it.
